The Los Angeles Chargers are an NFL football team based in Los Angeles, CA and play their home games at StubHub Stadium. The Chargers compete in the American Football Conference (AFC) West division. The club began play in 1960 and spent its first season in Los Angeles, before moving to San Diego in 1961. The Chargers had been the only NFL team based in Southern California since the Raiders moved out of Los Angeles in 1994. On January 12, 2016, the Rams were approved by the NFL to relocate back to Los Angeles for the 2016 NFL season, and the Chargers moved back to Los Angeles in 2017.

The Patriots compete in the National Football League (NFL) in the AFC East division against rivals Miami Dolphins, Buffalo Bills, and New York Jets. The team plays its home games at Gillette Stadium in front of 66,000 football fans. An original member of the American Football League (AFL), the Patriots joined the NFL in the 1970 merger of the two leagues. The team changed its name from the original Boston Patriots after relocating to Foxborough in 1971.
