The Pelicans went 34-48 in the 2016-17 NBA season. They finished 10th in the NBA Western Conference. The Pelicans will be looking to get back to the 2018 NBA Playoffs led by NBA All Star Anthony Davis and newly acquired DeMarcus Cousins.
Founded in 2002 as the New Orleans Hornets the franchise changed their name to the New Orleans Pelicans in 2013. In 2005, they briefly located to Oklahoma City due to the damage caused by Hurricane Katrina. The Pelicans compete in the league’s Western Conference Southwest Division against the San Antonio Spurs, Houston Rockets, Memphis Grizzlies, and Dallas Mavs. They play their home games in the beautiful Smoothie King Center located in New Orleans, LA. Throughout the history of the franchise the team has zero NBA Championships and only one division title.
